Winsor is a town in Windsor County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,064 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Windsor County. The town was named after Windsor, Connecticut, where many of its early settlers had come from.
The town was first settled in 1761 by a group of men from Hartford and Windsor, Connecticut. The town was chartered in 1766 by Governor Benning Wentworth. In the early years of the town’s settlement, there were many disputes between the settlers and the Native Americans who lived in the area. During the Revolutionary War, Windsor was a hotbed of anti-British sentiment. In 1778, a company of volunteers from Windsor helped capture Fort Ticonderoga from the British. In 1781, another group of volunteers from Windsor participated in the Battle of Bennington.

Following the war, Windsor continued to grow and prosper. Industry expanded and new businesses were established. The population reached 2,000 by 1880.
In recent years, Windsor has become known for its antique shops and its annual Old Home Week celebration, which is held each August.
